Cheddars French Fries Recipe
Ingredients
- Large potatoes (Russet potatoes work best)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or any seasoning you like
Preparation
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash the russet potatoes. If you prefer, you can peel them, but if you leave the skin, it enhances the texture and flavor. Cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch thick for great shape.
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut fries into a cold water bowl. Soak the potatoes for at least 30 min or at least 2 hours. This helps to make the fries crispier when fried.
Preheat the Oil
Heat the oil for deep fry on medium heat.
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, dry the potatoes with a kitchen towel or paper towel. This step is important; otherwise, oil splashes on.
Fry the Potatoes (Double Frying Method)
First, carefully place the potatoes in hot oil and remove them after 2-3 min, then keep them in a paper towel. It’s not golden crispy. After this again, heat the oil, then put the potatoes after 3-4 min; the potatoes turn golden crispy. Then, place it on the paper towel.
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, season them with salt to taste. You can also sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, or even Parmesan cheese on it for added flavor.
Serve
For a garnish, sprinkle some fresh chopped parsley on top (optional). Serve the fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauces, like ketchup, ranch, or aioli.
